OK MR2 experts, here is a crazy idea a friend and I dremed up over a few beers, Take on non-running 1st gen MR2, add in drivetrain from rear ended Nissan Leaf, have fun all electric commuter car with decent range.

Might be fun. How big are the batteries for the Leaf? If they’re too bulky, you might have trouble mounting them. There was a guy in my area selling an electric conversion project MR2 for $500. I was really thinking about it.

The Leaf is actually a pretty big car, so I don’t know if you could squeeze the battery pack into something as small as that MR-2. The dimensions are61.8x46.8x10.4 in. and they weight 648 lbs. So much for light weight fun.

Ad says it needs a TPS. Thats what mine “needed” when I replaced it and set it correctly it still has no power under load!

The Battery pack on a leaf fits under the front and rear seats, but it is modular so with a little wiring it could be made to fit

Each silver box is a module as long as you wire in the right order you should be fine.

I looked at the pic of it, and it looks like it is designed to fit under the floorboard between the axels, so I think it might be too wide....But you have the dimensions so I guess you could do a cardboard mockup to see what it would take to make it fit. I like the idea though...sooo much torque!

Track day. Best I can guess is the water pump ate itself and it overheated very, very badly. I then proceeded to overheat it badly even worse by attempting to nurse it home because AAA couldn’t find a tow truck for me at the track. Soooo, yeah. New engine.

I don’t know if you’re interested in trying to nurse it out there, but it looks like these guys are the guys to go to in the NY/NJ/PA area . If anyone can figure it out, it should be them.
